The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) provides a variety of training sessions in California and Hawaii that address the needs of schools conducting their Self-Study reviews, and workshops that address the needs of visiting committee chairs and members. WASC also conducts trainings overseas in East Asia and the Pacific Islands.

Three-part training sessions are offered to schools over an 18-month period prior to the full Self-Study visit. For example, a school scheduled for a full Self-Study visit in spring 2012 would have Part One training in November 2010, Part Two training in March 2011, and Part Three training in September 2011.

Visiting committee chairs of spring visits attend a one-day training workshop in October. Visiting committee chairs of fall visits meet in May.

Visiting committee members attend one-day training workshops from December through March for spring visits, or in September for fall visits. Members who have previously served on a committee need only attend a half-day training workshop.
